| Talk Program on VRML, and demonstration of Virtual Reality Sites |

A talk program on virtual reality was organized. Forty participants from information communication industry participated. The Program was conducted by Paniaras T. Yannis from the US and Cybermatha provided required equipment and infrastructure. |

Y2K Compliance test for Lumbini Bank |

As Lumbini Bank wanted to move to new millennium safely, on-site compliance test for year 2000 was conducted and certificate of compliance was delivered to the Bank. |

Training on Object Oriented System Design and Development |

In association with Nepal AOTS Alumni Association and partially funded by CICC, Japan, a training program was conducted and 20 enthusiastic programmers participated from organizations like NTC, PCS, Computer Advance, CORE, InfoCom, etc. |

Curriculum Development |
The BE in Computer Engineering Course was reviewed and suitable Curriculum was developed for the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University.
The Computer Training course was developed for CTEVT (Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training). |

Research and Study on IT database |
|
ITPF advocated and submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Science and Technology, His majesty's Government for conducting research and analysis of building national IT database for Nepal and developing a suitable work plan for its growth. |

Consultation, Documentation and Advocacy regarding Draft IT Bill |
|
ITPF conducted a Study and Analysis of "Electronic Transaction and Digital Signature Act (Draft) and related Acts and Regulation" to identify the weaknesses or/and strength of acts relating to eCommerce, Intellectual Property Right (IPR) and Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP). ITPF published the report and continuously advocating with Government and stockholders for the early enactment of the act. The project was successfully completed with the cooperation of The Asia Foundation, Nepal. |

Nepal Information and Communication Technology 2003 |
|
A study and research of Nepal's capabilities in the field of Information and Communication Technology was completed and the findings are compiled in a CD-ROM as well as in book form. With the cooperation of Computer Association of Nepal, the CD-ROM was distributed to all international participants of Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) officers Meeting and with the Cooperation of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, the book was distributed to all the participants of Non Resident Nepalese conference in Kathmandu. The Asia Foundation supported for this publication. |

e-Procurement in His Majesty's Government of Nepal |

In order to bring awareness of electronic procurement in Nepal and its implementation in His Majesty's Government's in all public purchases, a research and study was conducted. The study shows a very positive response from civil servants, private entrepreneurs and stakeholders for implementing e-Procurement in the country. The report has come up with a viable project proposal for execution of e-Procurement as pilot project in the government. The project was completed with the financial assistance of The Asia Foundation, Nepal. |

Business Incubation Initiative in Nepal |

This $100,000 grant from InfoDev, The World Bank, for Business Incubation Planning was awarded to ITPF in July 2004 through a global competition. The major objectives of the project were to study the need for incubation; to research into the environment of its possibility in Nepal; and to prepare a Business Plan for potential Incubator.
The Incubator focuses on nurturing innovative ideas, provide skill and an opportunity to convert ideas into marketable products/services, and eventually develop a profitable enterprise.
ITPF prepared and handed over the Business Plan for BIC Kathmandu to DOCSI, the responsible government body for its implementation. ITPF is working hand-in-hand with stakeholders - DOCSI, CSITC, HLCIT, IOE, KU, KEC, NCC for establishing and operating incubator(s) in Nepal. The Framework of e-Governance Roadmap |
|
The study proposed framework for architecting e-Governance in Nepal, and was intended to formulate outline for "e-government Roadmap" and guidelines for "Detailed Master Plan and its Phase-wise Implementation". This study was a result of volunteered initiative of IT Professional Forum with partial funding (Rs.92,000) from National Information Technology Center, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and its report was submitted in April 2005.
Besides researching into the experience of institutions, and existing best practices, ITPF conducted succession of interactions within its network of professionals and stakeholders before preparing the draft. The draft was then presented in various workshops with participations from government, academia, industry, ICT professionals for their feedback for preparing the final report.
ITPF successfully completed this project with constant inputs from the stakeholders for the project, namely National Information Technology Center, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, and Computer Association of Nepal. |
